About Department of Finance
As a central agency of the Australian Government, the Department of Finance (Finance) plays an important role in assisting
government across a wide range of policy areas to ensure its outcomes are met. Finance supports the government’s ongoing
priorities through the Budget process and fosters leading practice through the public sector resource management, governance and
accountability frameworks. Finance plays a leading role in advising the government on many of its strategic priorities. We do this
through our professional and considered approach to providing advice, developing policy, delivering services and engaging with our
clients and stakeholders. Finance’s key areas of focus are: – Budget – Business Enabling Services – Commercial – Governance and
Resource Management
Duties
- We are looking for a content designer who can turn complex information into clear, user-focused
- content.
- Content design and delivery
- Plan, design and write content that is clear, concise and easy to use
- Translate complex policy and legislation into plain English
- Structure content to support end-to-end user journeys
- Make sound editorial decisions about what to publish, consolidate or remove
- User focus and evidence
- Use research, analytics and user needs to inform content decisions
- Undertake content discovery to understand business and user context
- Prototype and test content to improve outcomes
- Stakeholders and influence
- Work with a wide range of stakeholders across Finance and government
- Explain and advocate for best practice in clarity, structure and accessibility
- Influence content decisions in complex environments
- Quality and best practice
- Maintain high standards for accuracy, accessibility and consistency
- Apply and contribute to writing and content design guidance
- Provide advice on accessibility, including WCAG 2.2 requirements
- Collaboration and growth
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Support and mentor less experienced staff where appropriate
- Contribute to team priorities and continuous improvement

- Position Eligibility Requirements
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999 , employees must be Australian citizens to
- be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed
- otherwise, in writing.
