Duties

  • Engagement Officers work closely with ONI’s leadership and the broader organisation to provide
  • ONI insights to ministerial offices and key government stakeholders, as well as manage, track and
  • respond to tasking and feedback.
  • Responsibilities can include:
  • Providing ONI insights to ministerial offices and key government stakeholders
  • Managing ministerial and departmental engagement, tasking and feedback
  • Working closely with ONI’s leadership to support the country’s most senior decision-makers
  • Helping provide access to ONI’s products and insights both in Canberra and interstate
  • Creating and maintaining business intelligence dashboards and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Production Officers blend analytical, coordination and publishing expertise to manage ONI’s
  • product planning, production and customer support functions.
  • Responsibilities can include:
  • Building and leveraging strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to align
  • product with internal deadlines and customer requirements
  • Managing – and developing as required – product workflows tools and programs
  • Developing new product forms and processes, including by collecting and analysing product
  • data
  • Supporting tradecraft activities and the analytical rigour teams as required
  • Creating and maintaining business intelligence dashboards and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Publishing Officers are responsible for the timely production and dissemination of ONI
  • publications to senior customers, including the Prime Minister, NSC ministers, relevant
  • departments and foreign counterparts.
  • Responsibilities can include:
  • Daily processing and quality assurance of ONI reports, including hardcopy and digital
  • preparation, formatting and template corrections, and grammar, punctuation and convention
  • corrections
  • Managing digital publication platforms and the distribution of classified electronic and
  • hardcopy publications (including couriering)
  • Liaising and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including
  • senior customers
  • Managing full production printer job queues, registration and handling of product, and
  • ensuring ontime delivery of finished products
  • Creating and maintaining business intelligence dashboards and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Current Intelligence Officers coordinate our daily and high-tempo current intelligence reporting
  • for the Prime Minister, ministers and senior officials. Some of the roles in this team are on a
  • rotating roster, which entails some weekday shift duty – this work attracts shift penalties. Other
  • roles in this team work standard business hours.
  • Responsibilities can include:
  • Coordinating and finalising ONI’s current intelligence reporting for the Prime Minister,
  • including in high-priority crisis situations – in some cases starting early (around 0500) on
  • weekdays on a rotating roster basis
  • Building and leveraging strong working relationships with analytical branches, the executive
  • and other agencies to triage and prioritise contributions
  • Editing and formatting submissions and ensuring data integrity and appropriate security
  • management, for daily and compilation products
  • Creating and maintaining business intelligence dashboards and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Written applications will be reviewed by members of a selection committee. They will consider
  • each candidate’s claims against the key attributes for each of the 4 roles. Candidates that
  • demonstrate the strongest claims against one or more of the roles will be progressed to the next
  • stage of the selection process.

Eligibility / Notes

  • You must be an Australian citizen.
  • Note: if you do not have a birth certificate issued by an Australian State or Territory Government,

  • You must have a checkable background.
  • Note: we must be able to practically verify, from independent and reliable sources, [cumulative]
  • periods of 12 months or more spent outside Australia.
  • You must be willing to undergo an organisational pre-employment assessment.
