About Department of Defence
The Fuel Supply Directorate is part of the Fuel Capability within Joint Logistics Command. The
Directorate provides valuable capability support to Defence, by ensuring the ongoing availability of
fuels, oils and lubricants to Defence assets both in country and overseas. This is achieved by
strategically procuring products into the Joint Logistics Command warehouse network and by
arranging direct delivery of product to an asset.

The successful applicant should have relevant experience undertaking Category Management
activity, and / or in end-to-end supply chain operations activities and should have a good
understanding of relevant legislative frameworks, Government decision-making and Defence’s
mission and policy requirements. You should have a sound working knowledge in the use of ERP
(SAP system) or another recognised Supply Chain Procurement System, as well as have
proficiencies in MS Office programs. Further in house training can be provided for the right
candidate.
You will require excellent communications skills and must be able to work with limited supervision,
think on your feet and make decisions that will have a positive impact. We are looking for
someone with initiative, strong organisational skills and the ability to respond appropriately to
pressures and changing priorities.

Duties
- The Role
- We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person to join our team in a Category Management
- Role within Fuel Services Branch located in Sydney CBD. You will contribute to the delivery of
- superior customer service to support Defence logistics. As an APS 5 Category Management
- Officer, you will be responsible under limited direction for:
- Engaging with customers and suppliers on matters affecting the provision of oils and
- lubricants;
- Undertaking moderately complex logistics inventory management work;
- Understanding and applying your knowledge of the Commonwealth Financial and
- Procurement Framework, its procedures and compliance obligations, to perform simple
- category management and procurement activities;
- Building and sustaining productive relationships with team members and actively participate
- in team work and group activities;
- Engaging with stakeholders to initiate improvements, address enquiries and resolve complex
- issues, and;
- Assessing risks associated with category management and procurement activities and
- participating in the implementation of mitigation strategies.
