The AESA SPO is part of the Air Defence Systems (ADS) Branch, within the Department of
Defence’s CASG. Charged with the responsibility of providing critical support to projects with an
emphasis on Joint Capability across the Australian Defence Force, the ADS Branch offers a wide

Duties

  • The Role
  • The Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), Active Electronically Scanned Array
  • (AESA) Systems Program Office seeks an EL 1 Emerging International Program Manager to lead
  • a small team delivering AESA systems procured through the United States Government and allied
  • partners.
  • This role operates under broad direction to manage complex program outcomes within an
  • integrated workforce, including planning, reviewing, and implementing project activities. It also
  • requires providing strategic advice to senior leadership and maintaining strong relationships with
  • international government stakeholders while aligning efforts with Defence priorities.
  • At the EL 1 level, the role involves leading project planning, managing procurement and contracts,
  • and preparing high-quality briefs, reports, and submissions. The Program Manager oversees
  • schedule, risk, budget, and performance, ensuring alignment with program objectives. They
  • provide evidence-based advice to senior leaders, build team capability through coaching and
  • feedback, and foster strong internal and external networks to support Defence and security
  • outcomes.
  • This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence
  • Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base
  • salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for
  • positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. For
