AFSA is an executive agency within the Treasury portfolio that works to maintain confidence in Australia’s personal insolvency,
personal property securities, and criminal asset management systems, supporting a strong and resilient credit framework. Its
regulatory responsibilities are delivered under key legislation, including the Bankruptcy Act 1966, the Personal Property Securities

Duties

  • Manage competing priorities and deliver work under limited supervision
  • Apply sound judgement and problem-solving skills when managing complex NPII data,
  • legislative and system-related matters
  • Assess and determine s80 suppression requests, applying legislative interpretation and
  • ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks
  • Process and manage NPII maintenance activities, ensuring data accuracy, integrity and
  • traceability
  • Maintain NPII registers, ensuring records are complete, accurate, current and audit-ready
  • Analyse NPII data to identify trends, anomalies and risks, and support appropriate responses
  • Provide recommendations and insights from data analysis to support business or regulatory
  • decision-making
  • Investigate data discrepancies and contribute to data quality improvement and remediation
  • activities
  • Apply data governance and security principles when handling sensitive information
  • Contribute to system assurance activities, including testing, validation and verification of data
  • and system outputs
  • Support the delivery of system enhancements and business improvement initiatives
  • Assist in translating legislative and policy requirements into system and operational
  • processes
  • Contribute to project activities, including implementation and continuous improvement
  • initiatives
  • Respond to and investigate NPII enquiries, providing analysis-based and wellreasoned
  • advice
  • Assist in preparing stakeholder responses requiring integration of legislative, data and
  • system considerations
  • Provide subject matter advice to internal stakeholders where NPII, data or system issues
  • arise
  • Support the implementation of changes, including system releases, enhancements, process
  • improvements and legislative updates
  • Demonstrate adaptability and resilience in a changing, system-driven and project-oriented
  • environment
  • Assist in the investigation of NPII-related issues and complaints, including identification of
  • data or system defects and contributing to remediation activities

  • AFSA’s risk management framework and relevant legislation, including guiding others to
  • identify and mitigate foreseeable risks.
  • Qualifications and experience
  • Experience in a regulatory environment, insolvency or the financial services industry is
  • desirable.
  • Tertiary qualifications are advantageous, particularly in Law, Accounting, Commerce,
  • Communications, Education or related disciplines is highly regarded.
  • Relevant qualifications from an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas
  • institution are recognised.
