About Australian Secret Intelligence Service

ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote Australia’s vital interests
through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government. Its work can involve collecting intelligence relating to
national security, international relations and economic issues. It also contributes to Australia’s coordinated national efforts against
terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and trans-national issues such as people smuggling.

Duties

  • Role responsibilities
  • Outlined below are the key areas of responsibility for the role:
  • Support senior engineers with design, build and test of enterprise network components to
  • provide new capabilities implementing secure quantum-safe gateways
  • Work with specialist vendors to transition new capability developments into production
  • environment
  • Sustain, enhance and manage gateway infrastructure, including firmware updates and
  • patching
  • Support the development and delivery for mission critical capabilities within a team
  • environment
  • Engage with business areas to understand requirements and identify technology solutions
  • that follow accreditation frameworks to ensure a robust security posture
  • Contribute to change management activities to collaborate with teams and translate activities
  • into actionable plans.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and artefacts to achieve accreditation in accordance
  • with the ISM and PSPF
  • Be willing to learn new technologies and work collaboratively in a team environment to see
  • projects though to completion
  • Core skills
  • We encourage applicants with one or more of the following skills and attributes to apply:
  • Experience in the delivery and/or support of gateway and high assurance gateway solutions
  • Experience supporting complex network systems, using hardware such as routers, switches
  • and SDWAN technology
  • Experience/knowledge in cross domain solution (CDS) concepts; both bi-directional and
  • one-way cross domain data transfers
  • Experience with network security appliances, such as next generation firewalls and specific
  • services such as CUBE/Expressways, NiFi and/or email proxy solutions
  • Knowledge of networking, telecommunications infrastructure, wireless communication
  • standards and associated security standards and considerations
  • Experience in supporting internet and cloud-based technologies, principles and
  • environments
  • Exposure to networks using commercial and government grade cryptographic equipment
  • Education and qualification requirements
  • A Level 6 candidate would be expected to undertake work that is complex in nature and operate
  • with limited supervision.
  • Experience in the following would be beneficial, but not essential:
  • Relevant engineering degree or professional industry experience/certifications (e.g.
  • CCNA/CCNP or equivalent)
  • Working in secure government enterprise environments in networks/gateways or internet
  • security infrastructure
