About Department of Defence

Career and Advanced Training Wing (CATW) is nested within the Army School of Electrical and
Mechanical Engineering (ASEME) and delivers specialist technical training to Land Materiel
Maintenance personnel by providing them with the technical knowledge, practical skills and
professional ethos to enhance Defence capabilities. You can expect to work with a mixture of
personnel from the ADF, APS, Wodonga Institute of TAFE (WIOT), and Defence civilians (Industry
Partners).

course delivery while balancing competing priorities, resources and stakeholder expectations.
They will be technically competent with computer systems, learning technologies and software to
support training delivery, reporting and administration.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, enabling them to work effectively with
staff from a range of stakeholders both internal and external to Defence. They value safety,
compliance and quality, promote a positive learning culture, and are committed to continuous
professional development and improvement.

Duties

  • The Role
  • The Learning and Development Team Leader is the subject matter expert and lead instructor of
  • the delivery of specialist technical training on artillery weapons systems currently used in the ADF,
  • such as the M777A2 Howitzer, M2A2 Salute Gun, and the Ordnance Examiner Course.
  • Key responsibilities include course management, including planning, delivery, assessment,
  • moderation, analysis, and post-course evaluation in accordance with the Defence learning
  • framework.
  • The role conducts and assesses theoretical and practical training on artillery systems, provides
  • advice to internal and external stakeholders, and contributes to capability introduction and upgrade
  • activities.
  • As a team leader you will be supported to set training priorities, manage resources and equipment
  • integrity, and ensure safety, compliance and quality outcomes, all whilst promoting a strong
  • learning culture, continuous improvement and professional development to students from the ADF
  • and Defence Industry Partners.

  • Security Clearance:
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Baseline Vetting” level.
