About Department of Defence

The Heavy Airlift Systems Program Office (HALSPO) acquires and sustains Heavy Air Lift and Air
Base Operations capabilities in support of the Defence mission. The KC-30A Logistics
Management Unit (LMU) key function is to lead an integrated team to acquire and sustain the
KC-30A capability on behalf of Defence. This includes the management of the TLS Contract with
Northrop Grumman Australia (NGA), the Simulator sustainment and training contract with CAE
and other supplementary KC-30A contracts.
The KC-30A LMU comprises an integrated workforce of Australian Public Service (APS)
personnel, Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and Contracted personnel. The team
delivers specialist support across a range of functional areas, including Engineering and Technical
Support, Training Support, Supply Support, Finance, Contract Management, Governance and
Reporting. Working collaboratively with Defence and industry stakeholders, the KC-30A LMU
plays a critical role in sustaining and enhancing the KC-30A capability to meet current and future
operational requirements.
As part of a small team, the APS5 Contracts Officer would be expected to work with a high degree
of autonomy while collaborating closely within the team and Team Leader. The position would
support the full contract lifecycle, from procurement planning through to contract implementation,
while also contributing to financial administration and reporting activities.

Duties

  • The Role
  • As the KC-30A Contracts Officer, you will be key in supporting the management and delivery of
  • contracted services associated with the KC-30A capability. Working within a dynamic and
  • integrated environment, you will contribute directly to the delivery of critical Air Mobility capability
  • that supports Australia’s national interests.
  • Under limited direction, you will carry out moderately complex contract management activities
  • across multiple contracts, focusing on post award contract management, contract administration,
  • financial management, governance and assurance. This includes monitoring contractor
  • performance, managing contractual obligations and variations, supporting risk management
  • activities, validating expenditure, maintaining accurate records and reporting, and ensuring
  • contract outcomes are delivered effectively and in accordance with Defence policies and
  • procedures.
  • The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with regular
  • interaction across Defence, Air Force, industry partners and external organisations to resolve
  • issues, support contract performance and achieve operational outcomes. You will work
  • collaboratively within an integrated workforce to provide contract management support that
  • delivers value for money, sustains capability and contributes to the ongoing success of the
  • KC-30A Enterprise.
