About Australian Securities and Investments Commission

To succeed in this role, you will bring demonstrated experience in management accounting,
budgeting or forecasting practices gained within either the public or private sector. You will have
proven experience delivering timely and accurate financial, budgeting and forecasting advice to
senior executives.
You will be confident analysing complex financial and management accounting information and
simplifying this information for business users. You will also have strong analytical skills, excellent
attention to detail, and the ability to organise, interpret and communicate financial information
clearly to a range of audiences.
You will have experience partnering with senior executives and budget managers to deliver timely,
actionable and strategic insights that help business areas achieve their plans and improve
performance. Your ability to present complex information to different audiences, including senior
and board-level executives, through strong analytical, business writing and verbal communication
skills will be important to your success.

A qualification in Business, Commerce or Finance is desirable, and a CPA or CA qualification will
also be highly regarded but not essential.
Experience with finance ERP systems, reporting tools and business systems will be highly
regarded. Exposure to ICT or technology-focused environments, including providing financial
advice and business partnering support, would be an advantage.
You will also bring strong communication, influencing, negotiation, problem-solving, project
management, risk management, data literacy, and technology and business systems literacy
skills.

  • This is an exciting opportunity to join ASIC’s Finance team as a Finance Business Partner –
  • Executive Level 1. In this role, you will provide strategic financial support, advice and insights to
  • senior executives and budget managers, helping business areas make informed decisions and
  • achieve their business plans.
  • Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Canberra location. Other locations considered.
  • EL1 – ($127,641–$149,295) depending on experience, plus 15.4% superannuation

  • The team
  • The Finance Business Partnering team provides strategic support to business managers to help
  • them achieve their business plans through actionable financial insights that support
  • decision-making and drive improved performance. The Chief Finance Office team provides a
  • range of financial support and analysis services to ASIC’s internal stakeholders.
  • The role
  • As a Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for managing stakeholder engagement,
  • developing financial literacy, and providing strategic budget advice and insights to support
  • Executive Leadership in achieving their business plans.
  • You will be responsible for:
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders and Finance Business Partners to deliver financial
  • support across a range of portfolios, with a current focus on data and technology.
  • Developing strong working relationships with senior executives and budget managers across
  • your assigned area of responsibility.
  • Building a strong understanding of stakeholder business plans, budgets and key activity
  • drivers.
  • Providing strategic and financial support to business teams by delivering actionable financial
  • insights that support decision-making and drive performance.
  • Developing the financial and budget literacy of stakeholders, including education in
  • TechOne, ASIC’s finance ERP system.
  • Advising business teams on financial and performance matters, including supporting the
  • development of business cases and improving understanding of financial processes.
  • Supporting senior executives to develop funding bids, including financial analysis, extraction
  • of financial data, and contributing to financial papers and reports for senior and board-level
  • management.
  • Contributing to continuous process improvement to ensure service delivery supports the
  • Chief Finance Officer team’s business plan outcomes.
  • Assisting with the training and development of Assistant Business Partners and Graduates.
