Duties
- Your duties and responsibilities will be aligned to the relevant APS Work Level Standards.
- Your key duties will include:
- Operational duties including circulation, reservations, interlibrary loans, shelving, serials
- registration, mail, and book deliveries from offsite storage.
- Undertaking the cataloguing of library material, including upgrading older records, electronic
- resources and using authorities to a high level, to meet the needs of DFAT clients.
- Assigning ISBN and ISSN to DFAT printed and digital publications, and providing advice on
- legal deposit, as well as basic copyright advice.
- Management and administration of library email inbox and associated folders.
- First point of contact for providing customer services to clients across the DFAT network.
- This includes taking inquiries in person, by telephone and email and responding proactively
- to requests for information and/or general library assistance, as well as straightforward
- reference services.
- Assist in the selection of relevant information materials for the library.
Eligibility / Notes
- Applicants must hold a recognised library qualification and be eligible for membership of the
- Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or an equivalent overseas professional
- library association.
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be
- employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise,
- in writing.
- Depending on the role into which you are placed, you may also be required to obtain and maintain
- a Working with Vulnerable People/Children registration (or equivalent).
