About Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

The ACCC is an independent statutory authority that administers the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other Acts. The
ACCC works to promote effective competition and fair trading in the market place to benefit consumers, business and the
community, and efficiency in the delivery of certain infrastructure services. The AER is a part of the ACCC. The AER is Australia’s
national energy market regulator and has an independent board. The AER shares employees, resources and facilities with the
ACCC.

Duties

  • As the Director, Legal Technology Services, you will:
  • Manage the LTS team, leading a team of professionals, role modelling our leadership behaviours, supporting a
  • professional and collaborative working environment, coaching, giving continuous feedback, resolving conflict and
  • facilitating career development.
  • Play a key leadership role in the delivery of legal technology strategies for the agency and supporting the Strategic
  • Director, Legal Technology Services to achieve objectives.
  • Promote the broad range of LTS capabilities to internal stakeholders, by overseeing the delivery of services and
  • technical skills training through online modules, presentations at meetings, authoring news articles and other
  • opportunities to showcase LTS work.
  • Provide expert advice and promote best practice approaches on the ACCC’s evidence handling procedures, use of
  • eDiscovery technology and digital forensics and advising on the use of technology to solve these problems.
  • Provide specialist support and respond to complex problems arising in high pressure contexts (such as litigation,
  • time limited investigations and/or search warrants) in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with other government and industry counterparts to proactively monitor developments and inform the
  • organisation’s position on the delivery of the full range of legal technology services.

Eligibility / Notes

  • In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
  • All candidates are expected to meet the APS Integrated Leadership Profile (ILS) for the classification advertised. Follow the
  • link for more information on the ILS. This role in particular requires:
  • Demonstrated experience leading a legal technology service delivery team or similar role in a fast-paced and large
  • complex people-centred organisation.
  • Demonstrated high level of technical expertise developed through work experience in the legal technology field,
  • across a range of disciplines such as knowledge of legal process, eDiscovery and digital forensic technology, and
  • handling and security of electronic and physical evidence and related policy and procedure.
  • An understanding of external factors, including developments in technology, industry approaches, court practice,
  • caselaw, legal process and the current approaches of local and international regulators within our operating
  • environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively with other people and sustain positive
  • relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • An ability to work with a high level of autonomy under broad direction, to ensure quality outputs are delivered by
  • the team in a timely manner.
  • The following job specific criteria are also highly desirable:
  • Ideally, 8 or more years’ experience in a leadership role in the context of government or private law practice will
  • also be highly regarded.
