About the Opportunity: Reporting to the EL2 Registrar Lead, Deputy Registrars exercise delegated powers and manage cases of varying complexity. You may assist with targeted case management strategies, lead national quality improvement projects, or manage workloads and performance of other registrars. The Registrars team handles applications from lodgement through to finalisation or readiness for hearing by Tribunal members. You’ll operate within a culture that values collaboration, continuous improvement, and delivering accessible, high‑quality services.

Duties (What You Will Do)

Service Delivery Undertake pre‑constitution functions related to case management and resolution, run Tribunal events, and ensure timely, high‑quality services to users. Implement case management and dispute resolution approaches that meet statutory objectives. Handle cases of varying complexity and apply trauma‑informed practices where needed.
Operational Advice Provide daily operational guidance on case management, identify and manage risks, and escalate appropriately.
Stakeholder Engagement Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support statutory objectives and facilitate case progression.
Innovation and Change Identify innovative solutions, implement improved processes, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

About You (Eligibility)

  • Essential qualifications: A university degree in law or related dispute resolution field, or relevant training/experience in dispute resolution or Tribunal functions.
  • Experience: Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team, manage change, and deliver results with good judgment and problem‑solving skills.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication; ability to adapt messaging for different audiences; ability to negotiate and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of or ability to quickly learn the Tribunal’s legislative and policy context related to case management services for diverse users.
  • Desirable: Mediation accreditation or equivalent experience in high‑volume dispute settings.
  • Eligibility: Australian Citizenship. You may need to pass an Australian Federal Police Check, health assessment, and obtain Baseline Security Clearance.
