About Department of Defence

DOTAM is a national organisation within Security and Estate Group (SEG). Working closely with
the ADF Services, HQ JOC, Base Services Contractors and other areas of SEG, DOTAM’s three
main functions in support of Defence capability include:
Defence and non-Defence training area management,
Delivery of Defence Estate bushfire mitigation,
Coordination of Defence Assistance to the Civil Community, Defence Force Aid to the Civil
Authority and ADF ceremonial support
The national DOTAM team is an integrated environment comprising of approximately 280 ADF,
APS and contractor personnel.
DOTAM comprises four regions; QLD, NSW/ACT, VIC/TAS/SA, NT/WA. DOTAM HQ is based in
Campbell Park, Canberra and is headed by Director DOTAM (Army COL).
Each region is headed by a Regional DOTAM (Army LTCOL), supported by an APS6 BOM
working with regional DOTAM staff and DOTAM HQ.
DOTAM NT/WA consists of a dispersed team of 38 full and part-time ADF members in Darwin and
Perth, and approximately 34 contracted staff on training areas.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will be a high performing individual with demonstrated experience relevant to
the role:
Develop and manage Routine Orders, Business Procedures and any other Standard
Operating Procedures relevant to DOTAM NT/WA business functions, ensuring knowledge
and compliance by DOTAM NT/WA staff.
Develop and manage the DOTAM NT/WA budget and relevant expenditure registers,
conduct PGPA Sec23 Finance Delegations, provide procurement support and
finance-related guidance to DOTAM NT/WA staff
Provide general and personnel administration, and logistics support relevant to DOTAM
NT/WA functions and staff requirements.
Maintain a fit-for-purpose and compliant Objective file structure, staff practices, knowledge
and compliance consistent with Defence / DOTAM requirements.
Complete business operations compliance audits IAW relevant policy and procedures;
record, report and rectify any identified irregularities and non-compliances.
Undertake Unit security officer (USO) functions.
Maintain stakeholder relationships to achieve business goals, including effective
collaboration with other regional DOTAM BOMs and DOTAM HQ Operations Support.

Duties

  • The Role
  • The APS6 Business Operations Manager (BOM) for the Directorate of Operations and Training
  • Area Management (DOTAM) NT/WA reports to the Regional DOTAM NT/WA (Army LTCOL).
  • The BOM is a subject matter expert whose core responsibilities include financial/budget
  • management, travel and procurement administration, logistics support, ADF personnel
  • administration support, security officer duties, Objective file management, and corporate
  • governance and compliance duties, in support of DOTAM NT/WA functions and staff.
