functions include developing and implementing commercial strategies; managing complex
procurement, contracting and sustainment activities; providing financial oversight and governance;
and ensuring effective risk management across major Defence investments.
The team delivers commercial advice and evidence-based decision support for investment
proposals, industry engagement, market analysis, procurement planning, contract negotiations
and contract management activities. It ensures compliance with Defence policies and
Commonwealth Procurement Rules while driving value-for-money outcomes and sound
stewardship of public resources. The team also supports stakeholder engagement across
Defence, industry and government, enabling informed decision-making and successful capability
delivery.
In addition, it promotes continuous improvement, knowledge transfer and workforce development,
strengthening commercial and financial capability through mentoring, up skilling and collaboration
across the APS and ADF workforce.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will bring significant commercial, financial and procurement expertise in Major
Capital Equipment Acquisition and Sustainment programs, with a proven ability to deliver complex
procurement and contracting outcomes across the full life cycle. They will have strong financial
management experience, commercial acumen, and a demonstrated focus on achieving
value-for-money outcomes, effective governance, and sound risk management in accordance with
Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
The successful candidate will be highly adaptable, collaborative and capable of operating within a
complex, integrated stakeholder environment, building strong relationships across Defence,
industry and government. They will be committed to delivering optimal capability and commercial
outcomes for the IAMDC2 Project and other branch activities, while supporting continuous

and up skilling APS and ADF personnel will be essential to strengthen organisational capability
and ensure enduring commercial and financial expertise across the blended workforce.
The candidate will bring proven executive leadership and management capability to provide strong
direction and oversight of the commercial team, while effectively influencing broader Air Defence
Systems outcomes and engaging a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. At times,
