About Federal Court of Australia

The Chief Executive Officer and Principal Registrar of the Federal Court, together with officers and staff identified under the Federal
Court of Australia Act 1976, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Act 2021 and the Native Title Act 1993, constitute a
single Statutory Agency for the purposes of the Public Service Act 1999. Employees are engaged to work in support of the
following courts or tribunal: • Federal Court of Australia, • Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, and • National Native Title
Tribunal. Employees are covered by the Federal Court of Australia Enterprise Agreement 2024-2027. The Federal Court and the
Federal Circuit and Family Court each maintain a distinct statutory identity, with separate functions and judicial independence.

Duties

  • Executive coordination and business operations
  • Act as a point of contact for the Executive Director, ensuring timely, accurate and
  • coordinated responses across the Division and with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate divisional workflows, tasking, clearance processes and crossbranch activities to
  • support integrated and efficient delivery.
  • Maintain forward work plans, reporting cycles and governance schedules to support planning
  • and prioritisation.
  • Coordinate highpriority and emerging issues, including consolidating inputs, managing
  • communications and escalating risks as required.
  • Performance, Planning and Reporting
  • Consolidate branch inputs into highquality reports, dashboards and executive materials to
  • support organisational oversight and decision making.
  • Monitor performance, workforce and delivery against strategic and operational plans,
  • identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Support divisional contributions to corporate planning, reporting and accountability
  • processes, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
  • Governance, Risk and Assurance
  • Maintain risk registers and support proactive risk identification, mitigation and reporting in
  • line with organisational frameworks.
  • Coordinate governance processes, including secretariat support, action tracking and
  • recordkeeping, ensuring compliance and integrity of decision-making processes.
  • Support audit, assurance and compliance activities, including coordinating evidence and
  • responses to meet organisational and external requirements.
  • Executive support and communication
  • Analyse and action requests, prioritising urgent, sensitive and complex matters to ensure
  • timely and effective outcomes.
  • Prepare and quality assure highlevel correspondence and executive materials, including
  • briefs, submissions, presentations and reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness and
  • timeliness.
  • Provide strategic advice, insights and analysis on complex policy, planning and operational
  • matters to support informed, forwardfocused decision making.
  • Continuous improvement
  • Lead and contribute to initiatives and projects that support divisional and organisational
  • priorities.
  • Review, maintain and improve business systems, processes and practices to enhance
  • efficiency, consistency and quality outcomes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and strengthen coordination
  • across the Division.
  • Collaboration and stakeholder engagement
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across the Division and with internal and
  • external stakeholders to support aligned and consistent delivery.

  • Experience supporting senior executives in a complex environment, coordinating workflows,
  • managing competing priorities, and delivering timely, highquality advice and materials.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships,
  • negotiate priorities and support coordinated ways of working.
  • Ability to manage operational tasking, identify and respond to risks, resolve issues and
  • escalate complex matters with sound judgement.
  • Experience applying governance, risk and compliance processes, including maintaining
  • records, tracking actions and supporting assurance activities.
  • Ability to coordinate planning and reporting processes, consolidate inputs and deliver
  • accurate, timely and decisionready outputs.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including preparing clear, concise executive
  • materials and providing evidencebased insights to inform decisionmaking.
  • Other requirements
  • Formal qualifications in business, public administration, governance, law, project management or
  • a related discipline (desirable)
