About Administrative Review Tribunal

The Data Management section is responsible for the Tribunal’s data and reporting frameworks.
The team supports the design and development of the enterprise data warehouse, including
integrating a range of internal and external data sources.
Reporting to the Assistant Director Data Science, the Senior Data Science Officer contributes to
the delivery of the Tribunal’s data science function. The role focuses on maintaining and
enhancing the Tribunal’s extract, transform and load (ETL) processes as it transitions to a new
Power BI reporting service. Ongoing enhancement of these processes will be required to support
the Tribunal’s growth and the introduction of new systems.

Duties

  • Service delivery : Deliver data integration, warehousing and reporting functions consistent
  • with the team’s business plan. Manage end-to-end delivery requests, including triage,
  • prioritisation and coordination of work to ensure timely outcomes. Deliver data products that
  • support strategic and operational decision-making across the Tribunal.
  • Stakeholder management: Actively support the establishment and maintenance of positive
  • and productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to effectively
  • contribute to the governance and stewardship of Tribunal data assets. Provide advice to
  • senior leaders in relation to the Tribunal’s operational and corporate data holdings. Build,
  • maintain and manage stakeholder relationships, acting as the primary point of contact and
  • maintaining ongoing engagement. Manage stakeholder expectations through negotiation,
  • tact and using sound judgement, particularly in complex or sensitive matters. Provide
  • technical guidance and informal coaching to colleagues and stakeholders to build
  • understanding of data, reporting tools and system complexity. Contribute and support
  • cross-team collaboration to achieve business outcomes.
  • Project management : Take responsibility for the delivery of projects with strategic or
  • operational significance, including the development of the Tribunal’s data integration and
  • warehousing frameworks. Contribute to initiatives that integrate data across multiple systems
  • to support a consolidated view of Tribunal operations and caseload.
  • Data management: Support the development and operation of pipelines, integrating
  • operational and corporate applications data which contribute to relevant reports and
  • analysis. Work across multiple case management systems simultaneously, addressing
  • complex technical challenges and producing accurate, reliable outputs. Analyse complex
  • datasets to identify trends, relationships and insights that support business needs. Address
  • and resolve complex and technical data issues through analytical thinking and problem
  • solving.
  • Knowledge base maintenance: Contribute to technical documentation and use appropriate
  • templates/version control to ensure repeatable, reproducible results by developing data
  • definitions, dictionaries, metadata, reporting standards, testing and data quality metrics.
  • Including ensuring definitions and metadata are available to support data lineage.
  • Data visualisation : Support development of operational and management reports,
  • incorporating a range of visualisation techniques. Use sound judgement and expertise to
  • provide best practice advice on data visualisation options. Translate complex data into clear,
  • meaningful insights.
  • Continuous improvement and innovation : Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and
  • streamline processes. Contribute to improvements in reporting frameworks and business
  • processes. Proactively seek innovative solutions to complex data challenges. Apply
  • innovative thinking when working with cloud-based business applications and evolving
  • system.
