About Australian Secret Intelligence Service
ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote Australia’s vital interests
through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government. Its work can involve collecting intelligence relating to
national security, international relations and economic issues. It also contributes to Australia’s coordinated national efforts against
terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and trans-national issues such as people smuggling.
Duties
- Responsibilities and tasks could include, but are not limited to the following:
- · Contribute to the coordination of activities which drive operations, based on the Australian
- Government’s priorities and requirements;
- · Assist with the production of intelligence product that meets Australian Government priorities
- and requirements;
- · Apply analytical tradecraft, critical analysis, and critical thinking in support of existing
- operational lines of effort, and the identification of new operational lines of effort;
- · Develop and maintain subject matter expertise on existing thematic or geographic areas of
- focus based on Australian Government priorities and requirements;
- · Maintain productive working relationships with stakeholders and customers;
- · Contribute to the identification and mitigation of risks, and ensure compliance with relevant
- legislation and regulations; and
- · Provide administrative support as required, encompassing written and verbal briefings, visit
- support, and financial compliance requirements.
Eligibility / Notes
- One or more of the following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:
- · Demonstrated proficiency in research, analysis and critical thinking;
- · Working knowledge of relevant geographic, thematic or technical subjects;
- · Understanding of techniques or technology that assist the collection, mining, manipulation,
- fusing, exploitation and visualisation of data;
- · Relevant tertiary qualifications or work/life experience;
- · Transferrable work background (e.g. other government agencies with an operational remit,
- private industry, National Intelligence Community, military, police, and other intelligence related
- roles); and
- · Other relevant skills/expertise (e.g. foreign language expertise).
- To be eligible for a role you must:
- · Be an Australian citizen
- · Be assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a TOP SECRET-Privileged Access security
- clearance
