Duties
- The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regional languages, regional cultures,
- geo-political issues, linguistic studies or a related field. The ideal candidate will also analyse and
- interpret language data to support various projects and initiatives.
- This role requires a deep understanding of language structures, semantics, and syntax, and the
- ability to learn to work with large datasets and advanced language processing tools. The
- successful candidate will also possess excellent analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the
- ability to communicate complex language concepts to non-experts.
- Additionally, the candidate will have the ability to understand values, customs, traditions, and
- behaviours of people from the mentioned region, an understanding of geopolitical issues, and the
- ability to use analytical tools and data literacy techniques, and continuously seek out opportunities
- for professional development and growth.
- We are looking for candidates with the ability to quickly digest and analyse foreign-language
- materials and communicate clear and accurate summaries in English to key stakeholders,
- applying their relevant cultural and geopolitical knowledge to this analysis.
Eligibility / Notes
- Australian Citizenship – Applicants must be an Australian citizen. Only in exceptional
- circumstances can this requirement be waivered.
- Organisational Suitability Assessment – The preferred applicant will be required to
- undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (see Organisational Assessment section).
- Security Clearance – It is a condition of employment that applicants are willing and able to
- obtain and maintain the requisite security clearance for the duration of their employment with
- ASD.
- Health Assessment – The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical
- examination conducted by the Agency’s preferred medical provider.
