Duties
- This is where you play an important role.
- Our graduates come from a broad range of backgrounds, study areas and life experiences. We
- are interested in high achieving and motivated graduate and early career economists,
- mathematicians, statisticians, computer scientists and physicists. Applicants do not need to have a
- background or experience in agriculture, fisheries or forestry industries.
- As a graduate in the ABARES Stream you will:
- Collaborate: Work as part of a proactive and integrated research team.
- Research and analysis: Provide evidence and advice to support policy and industry
- decision making.
- Develop Skills: Enhance your abilities through formal and on-the-job training activities.
- Learn: Participate in an in-house agricultural policy course taught by subject matter experts.
- Train: Receive training in writing, presentation, data analytics, and modelling.
- Engage: Get involved in ABARES seminars and conferences, including National Outlook.
- Rotate: Experience different roles through 3 workplace rotations within ABARES and the
- department, gaining a broad understanding of DAFF’s work.
- Australian Graduate Development Program: Participate in the Australian Public Service
- Commission (APSC) graduate events, enhance your expertise through formal training,
- complete the personalised graduate development program offered by the APS Academy,
- and build valuable connections within our ABARES and graduate networks.
- Please note that the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a
- period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service
- Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a
- similar nature.
