About Department of Defence
The International Security Policy team establishes and maintains the currency of Security of
Information Agreements and Arrangements that are used to enable to secure sharing of classified
information between Australia and a foreign government, Defence or entity.

level experience in building relationships, influencing, navigating complex and ambiguous issues
in a high tempo environment in collaboration with diverse stakeholders in order to achieve
strategic outcomes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Significant level of experience leading people and programs in a complex time bound
environment.
Experience working across international and domestic government organisational
boundaries to shape priorities and deliver outcomes.
Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong understanding of policy ideally in the international and/or security environment
transformation.
The ability to provide clear advice and exercise sound judgement in complex and evolving
environments.
A strong focus on delivery and achieving enterprise outcomes.
Experience with cross-organisational collaboration, multi-stakeholder environments,
international engagement, or complex capability/program management would be highly
regarded.
Duties
- The Role
- Key Duties of Director:
- Leadership of a small team, shaping relationships between Defence and international
- partners, underpinning information and capability sharing through strategic management of
- security related agreements.
- Use deep knowledge and understanding of the underpinning requirements for securing
- classified information, supported by experience performing complex negotiations, progress
- updates to information sharing agreements.
- Apply disciplined risk management practices pertaining to security risks associated with
- activities involving foreign nationals and international partners.
- Champion a culture of security risk awareness, curiosity and proactive engagement across
- the Defence enterprise.
- Establish and grow relationships across the Defence enterprise, wider Australian
- government and the international Defence community.

- Security Clearance:
- Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 2”.
