About Australian Federal Police
As Australia’s national policing agency, the AFP is a key member of the Australian law enforcement and national security
community, leading efforts to keep Australians and Australian interests safe both at home and overseas. The AFP also has
responsibility for providing community policing services to the Australian Capital Territory and Australia’s territories, including
Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Norfolk Island and Jervis Bay
Duties
- The Cyber Governance section within the Cyber Security and Risk Branch focuses on assuring
- compliance through policy, education and reporting.
- Our goal is to strengthen the AFP’s cyber security culture and risk posture by driving workforce
- awareness, compliance and accountability through timely communication of emerging threats,
- clear security guidance, targeted education and measurable assurance activities.
- Responsibilities of the section include:
- Development and implementation of Cyber Security Policies and supporting documentation
- to provide direction, guidance and protection for the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and standards, and keep abreast of
- legislative changes. Including but not limited to PSPF, ISM and Essential Series.
- Provide support and advice on governance, risk, and compliance matters to internal teams
- and senior management.
- Support the identification, development and assurance of information security risk controls.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and maintain effective communication channels
- on Cyber Security matters.
- Development and delivery of training programs to enhance staff awareness and
- understanding of Cyber Security.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to governance, and outreach
- activities.
- Development and implementation of outreach initiatives.
- Triage and action Cyber Front Door activities.
- Continual improvement opportunities within the Cyber Security and Risk Branch.
- What will you do?
- Band 6 responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain Cyber Security policies for the AFP, in line with Whole of Australian
- Government policy directions
- Provide high quality Cyber Security Policy advice to AFP appointees in a timely manner
- Engage actively in cross branch collaboration, working closely with team members and
- stakeholders to achieve shared objectives
- Assist in triaging and actioning Cyber Front Door activities
- Track and provide details of policy information requests and waiver requests, highlighting
- trends and potential gaps in policy
- Support Cyber Awareness campaigns and events
- Other duties as required
Eligibility / Notes
- Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
- Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
