About Australian Submarine Agency

The Australian Submarine Agency was established on 1 July 2023 and is responsible and accountable for the management and
oversight of Australia’s nuclear-powered submarine program. Australia’s acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered
submarines through the AUKUS partnership will be critical to ensuring our Defence Force has the capabilities needed to keep
Australians safe. The Australian Submarine Agency operates under the Defence portfolio and maintains strong linkages with the
Department of Defence. Our workforce comprises a mixture of Australian Public Servants, Australian Defence Force members and

Duties

  • Your Role
  • The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is an historic and
  • transformative endeavour for Australia. The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver
  • the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia’s economic and
  • national security landscape for decades to come.
  • The Systems and Reporting Manager will be required to work in a complex operating environment
  • as part of the SSN-AUKUS Acquisition Branch, which is located in Adelaide. This position is
  • accountable under broad direction to perform and lead systems, reporting and process
  • improvement to enable performance, strengthen capability and drive a cohesive, high-performing
  • team within the SSN-AUKUS Acquisition Branch (SSNAC Branch).
  • The key responsibilities for the position include:
  • Develop, implement and co-ordinate performance reporting inputs
  • Drive process optimisation through data-driven decision-making
  • Lead, develop, implement and maintain business governance activities
  • Oversee quality assurance and governance compliance
  • Develop robust strategic planning and monitor performance
  • Our Team
  • We sit within the SSN-AUKUS Acquisition Branch in the Program Delivery Directorate, supporting
  • the SSN AUKUS program through strong systems, reporting, and governance. Our role is to act as
  • an informed client, providing oversight, insight, and assurance to support effective
  • decision-making and protect public investment.
  • We focus on keeping delivery, reporting, and decision-making aligned between ASA and the
  • shipbuilder. This includes making sure work is understood, progress is clear, and senior leaders
  • have the information they need to make decisions. We maintain strong day-to-day links across
  • organisations so issues are identified early and managed effectively.
