About Future Fund Management Agency
The Future Fund is Australia’s sovereign wealth fund, investing for the benefit of future generations of Australians. The Future Fund
Board of Guardians, supported by the Future Fund Management Agency, invests the assets of seven public asset funds: the Future
Fund, the Medical Research Future Fund, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Land and Sea Future Fund, the Future Drought
Fund, the Emergency Response Fund and the DisabilityCare Australia Fund. Each fund has an investment mandate that is
determined by the Australian Government under legislation. Our role is to generate strong, risk-adjusted returns over the long term.
Duties
- Reporting to the Director, Media and Public Affairs, you’ll play a key role in helping protect and
- enhance the Future Fund’s reputation, supporting media engagement, developing compelling
- communications, and managing a range of public accountability and disclosure processes.
- No two days will be the same. One day you could be drafting talking points for senior executives,
- responding to media enquiries or preparing a strategic communications plan. The next, you may
- be coordinating a Freedom of Information request, supporting the release of investment disclosure
- reports, or analysing emerging issues that could impact the organisation’s external environment.
- This role offers rare exposure to senior stakeholders, high-profile subject matter and the
- opportunity to develop broad expertise across media, communications, public affairs and
- government accountability processes.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop communication strategies and narratives that support the Future Fund’s priorities
- and external reputation.
- Draft high-quality media releases, statements, talking points, briefing materials, Q&As and
- executive communications.
- Monitor media and public discourse, identifying emerging issues, risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate responses to media enquiries and support sensitive issue management
- activities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with journalists and external stakeholders.
- Manage Freedom of Information (FOI) processes and support broader disclosure and
- transparency obligations.
- Coordinate the publication of key disclosure documents, including investment reporting and
- public accountability materials.
- Prepare briefing notes and materials for senior leaders engaging with external stakeholders.
- Contribute to policy, stakeholder and issues analysis that informs communications and public
- affairs activities.
Eligibility / Notes
- You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working across multiple priorities and have a
- genuine interest in how organisations engage with the public, media and government.
- You might already be working in corporate affairs, strategic communications, media relations, law,
- public affairs, government, journalism or a related field and be looking for a role that offers greater
- breadth, responsibility and development.
- You’ll likely bring:
- Experience in corporate affairs, communications, government, public policy, media, legal or
- regulatory environments, supported by qualifications in areas such as law, communications,
- public policy or political science.
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and
- compelling content.
- Sound judgement and confidence working on potentially sensitive or high-profile matters.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work with senior leaders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- A keen interest in public policy, government, financial markets or current affairs.
- Experience with FOI, disclosure processes or accountability frameworks would be
- advantageous, but is not essential.
- Please note that the opportunity is open to Australian citizens only.
