About Department of Defence
Your immediate team within HQAC is a mix of uniformed and APS staff, and includes engineers,
aircraft maintainers, and aircrew. As part of your role, you will also work in coordination with
technical, maintenance, and safety staff within Air Command subordinate units. The analyst will
work collaboratively as part of this diverse team to gather and provide meaningful business
intelligence data to support senior Air Force decision makers.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively with a
wide range of internal and external stakeholders of diverse professional backgrounds.
Strong organisational skills, and be able to independently manage assigned tasks and
schedules to successful completion.
Previous experience in data fusion, analysis, or business intelligence expertise.
Previous experience in aircraft maintenance, aviation safety, airworthiness management, or
regulatory compliance.
Strong commitment to professional development, and ability to rapidly apply new knowledge
to workplace activities.
Duties
- The Role
- Air Command is responsible for the generation and delivery of air power as part of the joint force.
- It does this by coordinating the efforts of specialised groups and squadrons, translating strategic
- objectives into real-world action through planning, training, and execution. Headquarters Air
- Command (HQAC) supports Air Commander Australia (ACAUST) by planning, coordinating, and
- executing Air Command raise, train, and sustain activities.
- A HQAC Maintenance Capability Analyst plays a critical role in enabling informed command
- decision-making through the effective use of real-world data and business intelligence.
- The position is responsible for the collection, integration, and analysis of data relating to air power
- capability, with a focus on aircraft serviceability, mission readiness, and aviation safety.
- The analyst consolidates data from multiple operational and maintenance systems, ensuring its
- accuracy, completeness, and relevance. Through structured processing and analysis, they
- transform raw data into meaningful insights that reflect the true state of fleet readiness and
- operational performance, providing commanders and stakeholders with timely and actionable
- information.
