About Department of Defence
As an Enabling Support Officer, you will be part of a small, high-performing team within the
Business Services Directorate, supporting the Defence Digital Group (DDG). The team is
responsible for overseeing the provision of office accommodation and facilities services, ensuring
DDG workspaces are effectively managed and aligned to operational needs.
Despite its size, the team delivers a broad range of services—from assisting DDG Divisions to
manage their accommodation allotments, to coordinating and supporting the delivery of enabling
services provided by other Defence groups. These services are critical to enabling DDG to
achieve its capability outcomes.
The Directorate comprises four closely connected teams, with staff expected to contribute not only
to their own functions but also to support colleagues across the Directorate. This collaborative,
flexible approach fosters a dynamic environment, where shared responsibility and teamwork are
essential to achieving business objectives.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate demonstrates APS 6 capabilities, including strong stakeholder engagement,
sound judgement, and the ability to work independently while contributing to team outcomes. You
will build and sustain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including
service providers, tradespersons, and Defence support areas.
You will take a proactive, enabling approach to delivering accommodation, protective security and
facilities services in support of DDG outcomes. Well-developed written and oral communication
skills are essential, with the ability to prepare clear, concise documentation, including SOPs,
instructions, business rules, and briefs for senior management.
You will contribute to business continuity by developing and maintaining key processes and
documentation that support operational resilience.
Demonstrating leadership, you will manage the APW Emergency Management Network and act
as Chief Warden, ensuring preparedness and effective coordination with Base Support teams
during emergency situations.
Duties
- The Role
- Join the Business Services Directorate and play a central role in enabling the Defence Digital
- Group (DDG) to deliver critical capability outcomes. As an Enabling Support Officer, you will assist
- in the coordinate and management office accommodation across Canberra and external sites,
- ensuring workspaces are secure, fit-for-purpose and responsive to organisational needs.
- This is a dynamic role with a strong enabling support focus, complemented by responsibilities in
- protective security and business continuity. You will develop and maintain key documentation,
- including SOPs, instructions, and business rules—making strong writing skills essential.
- You’ll build strong relationships across a diverse stakeholder network while supporting the delivery
- of accommodation, protective security services and facilities.
- You will also lead the Anzac Park West (APW) Emergency Management Network and act as Chief
- Warden, contributing to a safe, prepared, and resilient workplace.
