About Office of the Official Secretary to the
We are seeking experienced and motivated leaders to fill current and future vacancies at the
Executive Level 1 level within the Honours and Awards Secretariat.
As a Manager, you will lead a team responsible for delivering high-quality outcomes across one of
the following areas:
Order of Australia
Administer and promote the Order of Australia, including researching and preparing nominations
for Council consideration.
Meritorious, Operational Awards and Bravery
Administer and promote Australian Bravery Decorations, as well as meritorious and operational
awards, including the National Emergency Medal.
Corporate Services
Deliver financial, administrative and logistical support to enable the effective operation of the
Honours and Awards Secretariat.

Duties
- Lead and manage a team to deliver priorities and project outcomes, providing high-level
- advice across a broad range of activities.
- Oversee the processing of nominations and the development of recommendations to the
- Governor-General under the Australian honours system.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including
- Councils and Committees, to support collaboration and optimise outcomes.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen honours procedures
- and administrative frameworks.
- Foster a high-performing team culture through effective leadership, performance
- management and staff development.
- Prepare high-quality written material, including briefings, submissions and responses to
- sensitive and complex correspondence.
- Anticipate emerging issues and risks, develop practical strategies and solutions.
- Support the Director and other managers in the administration of the honours system and
- contribute to the overall leadership of the Branch.

- To be eligible for employment, applicants must be Australian Citizens.
- All positions at the Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General are prescribed and the
- successful applicant will need to pass and maintain a security clearance.
