About Department of Defence

The Australian Defence College (ADC) is the Department of Defence’s premier centre for joint
professional military education and leadership development. Within ADC, the Directorate of

Education, Learning and Training Authority plays a key role in supporting the strategic functions of
the Commander ADC in his role as the Chief Executive officer of the Defence Registered Training
Organisation (DRTO). Under the auspices of the DRTO, Defence realises consistently high quality
nationally recognised vocational skills outcomes.
The APS 3 DRTO Issuance Officer will work as part of the DRTO Issuance team. They will work
collaboratively with team members to process, quality assure and records aspects of the teams’
accreditation issuance. They also work to maintain compliance with legislated standards. This role
will also engage as required with the broader Defence RTO team, to provide limited advice and
support to Defence stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a proven ability to process, manage and record data.
They will demonstrate:
Ability to work effectively in databases, to add, retrieve and check data from personnel
records, in accordance with privacy legislation.
Accurate completion of processing work across a range of data sources.
Maintenance of accurate training records.
The ability to grow awareness of national VET legislation and Standards for RTOs.
Organisational skills that support the ability to balance competing demands.
The ability to operate with a degree of independence in the completion of tasks.
The ability to engage effectively with stakeholders under limited circumstances.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working in a registered training organisation (RTO) is desirable but not required, and a
willingness to undertake study to achieve a Training and Assessment (TAE) Workplace Assessor
Skill Set is preferred.

Duties

  • The Role
  • APS 3 DRTO Issuance Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform data management
  • and administration work, and for the DRTO, the role is responsible for the processing of issuance
  • requests from the outcomes of Defence training and assessment.
  • This role will process requests for Statements of Attainment, Qualifications or Skill Sets as part of
  • national Vocational Education and Training (VET) accreditation. APS 3 Defence RTO Issuance
  • Officer will work within a framework of legislation (national VET Legislation and Standards for
  • RTOs), established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence RTO
  • work instructions.
  • The APS 3 Defence RTO Issuance Officer is also responsible for maintaining accurate issuance
  • records to meet VET compliance requirements.

  • Security Clearance:
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Baseline Vetting” level.
