About Administrative Review Tribunal

Working alongside other Information Access Officers you will manage a caseload of Freedom of
Information (FOI) requests from Tribunal applicants and members of the public.

You will be responsible for sourcing documents relevant to a request and conducting an
assessment to make a decision on release, working within the framework of the of Freedom of
Information (FOI) Act 1982.
You will be self-motivated, and capable of monitoring and managing your own workload across
multiple case management platforms. The Tribunal receives a high volume of FOI requests, and
an ability to work productively and efficiently is required to ensure statutory compliance with FOI
Act obligations

Duties

  • Case Management: Process routine FOI requests for documents. Co-ordinate day-to-day
  • administrative activities for the FOI and Privacy team, including but not limited to file creation
  • and searches for documents which are within the scope of requests received under the FOI
  • Act.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain productive relationships with a range of
  • stakeholders on matters affecting FOI and Privacy. Liaise with business areas to identify
  • relevant documents and consult on proposed exemptions.
  • Decision-Making: Applying the provisions of the FOI Act to make a determination on the
  • application of relevant exemptions and drafting reasons as required by the FOI Act in
  • accordance with the FOI Guidelines issued by the Office of the Information Commissioner.
  • Service Delivery: Assist with the delivery of high quality FOI and Privacy related services
  • that support the Tribunal’s functions. Maintain a working knowledge of the practices and
  • procedures of the Tribunal.

Eligibility / Notes

  • Australian Citizenship
  • Requirement to undertake an Australian Federal Police Check and a Health Assessment
  • Desirable:
  • Relevant experience in a similar work environment OR previous knowledge of or experience
  • in Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts
