About IGIS: The Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security provides independent oversight of Australia’s intelligence agencies to ensure legality, propriety and human rights compliance. Duties (What You Will Do)
| Contribute to, and at times lead, reviews (inspections and inquiries) of intelligence agency activities by conducting research, examining documentation, analysing data, observing activities, and meeting with agency staff. |
| Build and maintain independent working relationships with colleagues in agencies IGIS oversees and with broader Government to advance oversight work. |
| Critically analyse issues and complex documents, apply sound judgement, draw conclusions, produce findings and deliver recommendations. |
| Communicate verbally and in writing to a wide range of audiences, including senior managers, with varying levels of complexity. |
| Provide input to oversight planning to ensure IGIS focuses on the most important areas of agency activity. |
| Apply legislation, policies and procedures to agency activities and seek support from internal stakeholders as required. |
| Support and guide less-experienced staff; may include formal supervision. |
| Handle highly classified and sensitive information daily; exercise professional discretion. |
| Contribute to learning and professional development within the Agency Oversight Branch. |
