About the Opportunity

Across Defence’s Joint Capabilities Group, you’ll apply your commercial and ICT contracting expertise to enable secure, mission-critical capabilities. You’ll work with diverse teams—technical, operational and commercial—to translate requirements into sound contracting strategies that deliver value for money and resilience in our cyber and information environments.

As a trusted advisor, you’ll lead with integrity and accountability, and you may have people management responsibilities. You’ll help shape enduring supplier relationships, drive high-performance outcomes, and contribute to Defence’s capability delivery in a dynamic, national setting.

Duties (What You Will Do)

Lead and manage contracting activities for ICT/secure communications and cyber-enabled services, ensuring alignment with capability delivery, compliance and risk management.
Develop contracting strategies, structure agreements, and support sustainment and upgrade activities across enterprise technology, service management and operational technology.
Negotiate with industry partners, manage vendor performance, and monitor value-for-money outcomes across complex ICT procurements.
Build and maintain relationships with technical, operational and commercial teams to translate requirements into clear contracting actions.
Ensure contracts support capability delivery, high availability, security and resilience of Defence networks and information environments.
Provide leadership in people management where applicable, developing a high-performing and cohesive team.
Navigate procurement frameworks, sustainment agreements and vendor performance frameworks, with a focus on integrity and accountability.
Contribute to the Defence mission by enabling secure, reliable ICT services and resilient strategic communications.

About You (Eligibility)

  • Strong procurement, contracting, and vendor management experience within complex ICT environments.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and managing commercial risk in technology delivery.
  • Ability to translate requirements into contracting strategies and manage relationships across technical, operational and commercial teams.
  • Understanding of ICT service delivery, sustainment agreements and enterprise technology operations.
  • Security clearance capability (Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting Level 1).
  • Soft skills: good judgement, accountability, collaborative mindset, and the ability to lead a team if required.
  • Technical proficiencies: familiarity with ICT procurement frameworks and contract management tools; ability to engage with cyber and C4 environments.
