As an Assistant Director, Data you’ll lead the way in turning data into decisions. Daily you’ll identify relevant data, prepare and enrich it for analysis, apply advanced analytics and visualisation to reveal patterns, and develop automated solutions to improve efficiency. You’ll work across multidisciplinary teams to shape, deliver and embed analytics that support investigations, monitoring, surveillance and economic regulation.

Duties (What You Will Do)

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Shape and prepare data Identify relevant data, collate and enrich it, and ensure it’s ready for analysis.
Generate insight Apply advanced analytics and visualisation to uncover patterns and inform decisions.
Innovate and optimise Develop bespoke solutions and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy of processes.
Build capability Support teams to strengthen analytical skills and embed best-practice methodologies.
Act as a strategic partner Collaborate across the agency and externally to share expertise and drive analytics innovation.

About You (Eligibility)

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to define business problems and derive insights from diverse data sets.
  • Expertise in analytical languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL).
  • Strong written and verbal communication; the ability to convey complex concepts to varied audiences.
  • Experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to manage a demanding workload across multiple projects and contribute to capability-building initiatives.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members; managing other data specialists is desirable.
  • Broad expertise in data acquisition, processing, analysis and visualisation; commitment to staying current with new techniques, including AI/ML.
