About Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety

The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) is the Australian Government’s primary authority on
radiation protection and nuclear safety. Our purpose is to protect the Australian people and the environment from the harmful
effects of radiation, through understanding risks, best practice regulation, research, policy, services, partnerships and engaging
with the community.

Duties

  • The Finance Systems Accountant will manage, develop and support ARPANSA’s Enterprise
  • Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including the Financial Management Information System
  • (Technology One Enterprise software) and Travel Management System (Expense 8) and Link 4 (e
  • invoice), to ensure data integrity, enhance information quality and continually improve the ease of
  • access to ERP systems.
  • Your role is pivotal in leveraging financial systems and technologies to enhance efficiency and
  • accuracy in financial management, reporting and analysis. You require a deep understanding of
  • both accounting principles and information systems, enabling you to bridge the gap between
  • finance and IT. By optimizing and integrating financial systems, you will ensure that data is
  • accurate, accessible, and actionable, ultimately driving strategic decision-making and fostering an
  • environment of continuous improvement. Your expertise in system implementation, maintenance,
  • and troubleshooting further supports the organisation’s financial integrity and operational
  • effectiveness.
  • Key accountabilities
  • Provide business analysis expertise with an accounting focus to develop solutions to
  • business issues, ensuring continuous improvement through process automation and system
  • integration.
  • Manage, develop, and support existing Technology One Financial, Expense 8 and Link 4
  • systems ensuring solutions support underlying rules and standardised processes.
  • Take a leadership role to further enhance ARPANSA’s business Intelligence for
  • Financials data, and in the lifecycle of finance system projects, including system module
  • configuration and maintenance, testing, user acceptance testing, rollouts and user training.
  • Provide high-level support to the Finance Manager, including reconciliations, budget and
  • forecast maintenance, month-end and year-end rolls and ledger reconciliation
  • Provide administrator functions to ARPANSA’s ERP system including; the monitoring and
  • maintenance of data, the creation and maintenance of charts, users, security profiles,
  • reporting, enquiries, interfaces, and system issue support.
  • Implement recommendations from a recent Finance Systems Health check review.

Eligibility / Notes

  • To be considered for this position, you will hold a tertiary qualification in a business discipline from
  • an Australian tertiary institution or comparable qualification and relevant experience appropriate to
  • the duties of the role. You will have a strong systems accounting background together with a
  • comprehensive understanding of the Commonwealth’s legislative and policy frameworks including
  • the application of Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act).
  • You will have excellent personal attributes including a high degree of initiative and integrity, along
  • with advanced communication and collaboration skills. You will possess highly developed
  • analytical and problem-solving skills and the capacity to meet the demands of multiple projects
  • and deadlines. You will have strong functional knowledge and experience of Technology One
  • system, both Ci and Ci Anywhere application suits, and advanced Excel, BI tools, ETL, XLOne

  • and SQL expertise. You can also develop and deliver training in the various disciplines required of
  • the position.
  • You must hold Australian citizenship and be prepared to travel interstate from time to time as
  • required. ARPANSA requires all new employees to obtain and maintain a national security
  • clearance as a condition of engagement. You must also meet required pre-employment checks as
  • necessary.

  • A strong systems accounting background, with previous experience in Technology One,
  • together with a demonstrated knowledge of the Commonwealth’s resource management
  • framework
  • Proven experience and ability to maintain, upgrade and enhance existing finance systems
  • and implement new system solutions, including the implementation of systems and process
  • improvement transformation projects.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to recommend innovative
  • solutions to address business issues and improve business processes through automation
  • and the use of technology.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills enabling effective collaboration
  • with senior leaders, stakeholders and staff on critical financial matters impacting the agency.
  • Possess strong organisation and prioritisation skills, and a high level of accuracy and
  • attention to detail.
