About Department of Defence
The Business Optimisation Services team sits within the Office of COMTRAIN at Navy Training
Force Headquarters. The team provides business optimisation services to Training Force to
enable timely, efficient and accurate decision-making. The team aims to identify and implement
new methods and processes that seek to redesign and streamline, ensuring a continual
improvement cycle is in place.
The APS 5 Business Optimisation Officer reports to the APS 6 Business Optimisation Team
Leader located at Training Force Headquarters. This role will also provide support to the Training
Force Executive Assistant.
The APS 5 Business Optimisation Governance and Reporting Officer reports to the ASP6
Business Optimisation Governance and Reporting Team Leader located at Training Force
Headquarters.

providing administrative, secretariat and business support services. We are seeking an individual
with excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and experience supporting and
guiding administrative staff.
APS 5 Business Optimisation Governance and Reporting Officer; our ideal candidate is a highly
motivated governance and assurance professional with demonstrated experience in governance,
risk management, compliance monitoring, assurance activities, and performance reporting within a
complex organisational environment.
Duties
- The Role
- APS 5 – Business Optimisation Officer
- The APS 5 Business Optimisation Officer sits within the Business Optimisation Services team and
- leads the Training Force Secretariat function.
- The role supports the coordination of Training Force HQ meeting cycles and agendas, preparing
- and quality-assuring documentation, recording and tracking actions, and ensuring governance
- activities are conducted in accordance with frameworks, policies and legislative requirements. The
- role will monitor key deadlines, maintain accurate records and support the consistent application of
- processes to enable informed decision-making and effective organisational outcomes.
- The role will manage shared inboxes, prepare correspondence and ensure the timely flow of
- information. The role will also provide support to the senior leadership administrative staff. In
- addition, the role contributes to business optimisation and continuous improvement activities,
- operating in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, initiative
- and adaptability, providing support across a broad range of business activities and emerging
- priorities as required.
- APS 5 – Business Optimisation Governance and Reporting Officer
- The APS 5 Business Optimisation Governance and Reporting Officer sits within the Business
- Optimisation Services team and leads the Training Force Governance and Reporting functions.
- The role is responsible for performing governance functions including assurance, internal reviews,
- risk management, compliance monitoring, enterprise performance reporting, and including inputs
- to the N Library. You will work independently while engaging stakeholders across the Training
- Force organisation to coordinate governance, risk, performance and assurance activities, and
- anticipating and responding to business needs. You will also support team priorities and contribute
- to capability uplift through coaching and feedback with opportunities for professional
- development.
