Duties

  • We are recruiting for two positions:
  • The Budget Strategy team lead on the preparation and delivery of budget proposals for the
  • Director and provide strategic advice and guidance on government processes. As an agile and
  • proactive EL1, you would be required lead a small team to work closely with key stakeholders to
  • develop policy and budget priorities that support the strategic objectives of the Director of National
  • Parks and the wider department. In this role, you are part of a unique central team that works with
  • all areas of Parks Australia, including joint-management reform, world heritage, parks
  • infrastructure and marine park management as well as the broader department, and other
  • Commonwealth departments.
  • The Tourism Policy team provides provide a parks-wide approach to address cross-cutting issues,
  • promote consistency in visitor management principles and provide a national perspective on
  • trends and best practice. The team provide leadership and advice on tourism and visitor
  • experience matters across the Commonwealth parks and gardens, driving best practice visitor
  • management that respects the World Heritage and cultural significance of these places.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills are required for this role which involves working with
  • Commonwealth, State and Territory government bodies and industry groups, tourism businesses
  • and regional communities.

Eligibility / Notes

  • Citizenship – to be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the
  • Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
  • Security Clearance – this position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be
  • required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
  • Pre-employment checks – your suitability for employment will be assessed through a
  • pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a
  • National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment
