About Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission is the national regulator of Australian Government-funded aged care services. We
protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing, and quality of life of people receiving aged care. This includes managing
complaints and feedback about the care older people receive. We help build confidence and trust in aged care, by promoting best
practice and a culture of safety and quality in the sector. We register providers and hold them to account if they don’t meet
expected standards of care. We work with providers, workers, older people, their families, and supporters to make sure they
understand and uphold older people’s rights.
Duties
- As a Senior Inspector, you will:
- conduct monitoring visits at aged care services, individually or as part of a team, to assess compliance
- and identify risks or harm to older people
- engage with providers, workers, older people and their representatives to collect information, understand
- concerns and pursue relevant lines of enquiry
- conduct field-based and desk-based interviews to inform monitoring activities
- collect, assess and analyse information and evidence using the Commission’s systems
- prepare clear, evidence-based and timely reports to support informed regulatory decision-making
- identify and escalate immediate risks, and work with providers to ensure risks are mitigated
- lead on-site assessment activities, including allocating tasks, balancing workloads and supporting team
- members
- communicate team findings to service management in a professional and constructive manner
- contribute to preparation and case management planning for monitoring activities
- undertake regular travel, including overnight stays and visits to regional and remote locations.

- an understanding of risk and potential harm in aged care, or the ability to quickly develop this

- the ability to work effectively in monitoring teams, including supporting and guiding others
- the ability to understand and apply legislation, policy and regulatory frameworks professionalism, integrity
- and sound judgement when operating in a regulatory environment
