Duties
- The EL2 Director will be responsible for:
- Leading and overseeing the implementation and delivery of the HAFF and other priority
- initiatives, including through legislation, governance and financial arrangements.
- Implementing intergovernmental funding architecture including preparation of Federation
- Funding Agreements.
- Leading and mentoring a delivery unit of 8 – 10 staff.
- Advising the Minister for Housing and her office on innovative implementation and financing
- options to maximise outcomes on behalf of the Commonwealth.
- Overseeing engagement with a broad range of senior stakeholders.
- Clearly communicating complex financial analysis and frameworks to a range of audiences.
- Desirable Skills / Experience
- Demonstrated experience in housing policy and/or program delivery combined with sound
- understanding of the Australian Government’s ambitious housing agenda.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex issues
- and identify opportunities to implement effective solutions.
- Ability to influence strategic direction of Commonwealth Government housing policy.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective partnerships with ministers and their
- offices, Housing Australia, state and territory governments, local government peak bodies,
- delivery partners, First Nations partners and community stakeholders, and community
- stakeholders as well as financial industry stakeholders to support policy development and
- delivery.
- Experience in financial analysis, Commonwealth budget treatment and accounting.
- Established project management skills to drive outcomes across a complex work program.
- Strong leadership capability, including guiding teams, building capability and modelling APS
- values in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, is also desirable.

- Under Section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees of the Treasury are required to be
- Australian Citizens.
- Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain, at a minimum, a Baseline security
- clearance, and will be subject to pre-employment screening checks.
- Some positions may require a higher level of clearance, as specified in the position description.
