Duties

  • The ICT Group is the responsible for strategic ICT capability and the delivery of ICT services at the AIHW.
  • The Modernisation Roadmap and Delivery Program (MRDP) Unit is focussed on delivering significant ICT modernisation
  • activities that enable the AIHW to have clearer information, improved workflows with automation, more resilient and
  • scalable platforms, and stronger readiness to adapt to evolving data and analytics landscapes.
  • Within the unit, the Information Services team ensures the Institute’s knowledge, research resources, and information
  • assets are easy to find, easy to use, and managed in line with professional standards. We support staff with trusted
  • information, curated resources, and expert guidance that strengthen evidence-based work across the Institute.
  • We maintain and grow the Institute’s library collections, provide research support, and manage key information services,
  • including publications, knowledge repositories, and recordkeeping practices.
  • Our team helps staff discover authoritative sources, develop search strategies, and apply best-practice information
  • management to their work – ensuring knowledge is organised, preserved, and accessible when it’s needed most.
  • The ICT Group is looking for a Library and Information Management Officer.
  • Under general direction you will:
  • Lead and manage AIHW’s library services, including electronic subscriptions,research databases, federated
  • search services, eBooks, corporate support subscriptions and overall budget.
  • Manage the Library Management System (LMS) including cataloguing electronic and print publications, and be
  • responsible for legal deposit obligations.
  • Perform research work and training in response to staff requests, including use of databases, grey literature,
  • library consortia and networks, open-source software and library catalogue.
  • Develop and contribute to reviews of records authorities, policies and guidelines for Information Services, with an
  • understanding of how best practice supports the AIHW’s vision, mission, and business objectives.
  • Work collaboratively and productively with AIHW’s multidisciplinary Strategic Initiative project teams to provide
  • active input, balanced with BAU activity where appropriate.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with AIHW’s staff to secure a shared understanding of the information
  • management function, APS responsibilities and Commonwealth legislative drivers.
