Duties
- Our ideal candidate will have a mixture of the following skills:
- A strong aptitude for problem solving and a genuine interest in working within a technical
- environment.
- Experience in unix operating systems; Ubuntu and Redhat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience with containers and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Golang, Java and Python.
- Experience in Cloud environments and knowledge of Cloud Frameworks, preferably Amazon
- Web Services or Kubernetes experience.
- An understanding of CI/CD tools like GitLab CI, or AWS Code Pipeline to streamline
- development workflows and automate testing, deployment and monitoring.
- An understanding of network security and storage system solutions.
- An understanding of system monitoring and observability tooling such as Grafana, Splunk or
- AWS Cloudwatch.
- Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, FluxCD or ArgoCD.
- Experience implementing or designing within zero-trust security frameworks.
- Experience in leading & delivering ICT solutions across cloud and on-premises systems.
- Strong understanding of security and system compliance best practice.
- Ability to fulfil supervisory duties including proactively developing and mentoring the
- cloud-engineering workforce.
- Ability to lead a geographically dispersed workforce, including building cohesive teams and
- managing remote staff.

- To be eligible for employment with ASD, you must meet of the following eligibility criteria: all
- Australian Citizenship – Applicants must be an Australian citizen. Only in exceptional
- circumstances can this requirement be waivered.
- Organisational Suitability Assessment – The preferred applicant will be required to
- undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (see Organisational Assessment section).
- Security Clearance – It is a condition of employment that applicants are willing and able to
- obtain and maintain the requisite security clearance for the duration of their employment with
- ASD.
- Health Assessment – The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical
- examination conducted by the Agency’s preferred medical provider.
