Duties (What You Will Do)

Key Responsibilities Specific Tasks
Support for Mediation, Hearings and Inquiries Assist members in preparing for mediations, hearings, inquiries and arbitration. May conduct mediations or co‑mediate with member approval.
Administrative and Research Support Liaise with NNTT teams to provide administrative, research and secretarial support; apply records management practices; manage confidential material.
Legal Knowledge and Analysis Develop knowledge of legislative frameworks, case law and guidelines; conduct high-level legal research and produce quality written work.
Policy and Compliance Liaison Alert stakeholders to changes in case law, legislation or policy; support legal and compliance directors as required.
Documentation and Submissions Prepare briefs, submissions, reports, conference papers, policies and procedures; work independently or in small teams.
Relationship Management Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support statutory functions.
Workload and Prioritisation Operate with a high level of independence; manage competing tasks to ensure timely outputs.
Other Duties Note: duties may change; some travel to remote locations may be required.

  • Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; ability to communicate sensitively with these communities.
